Photos from NAMI Walk 2010
We had fun for a great cause. There was line dancing, snacks, freebies, plane ticket prizes, and lots of new people to meet and walk with. Young and old turned out for the event.

Come Walk with Us!
Raise Awareness for Mental Health
The 2011 Georgia NAMI Walk is on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Candler Park in Atlanta. The walk is a time for celebration, picnic and fun with family and friends. Bring your children, relatives, friends, even your dog (on a leash). The DEKALB PACERS team is going to set the pace for the walk.
The walk is the main support for the National Alliance on Mental Illness. We provide free support and education for people with mental illness and for family and friends, training for police and security officers to respond safely and knowledgably to situations involving a person in a mental health crisis, educational programs for parents and teachers and communities. NAMI DeKalb has two Connection consumer support groups with two meetings weekly and a Family Support Group. This year we had a Peer to Peer Program and two Family to Family programs. Every month, we have an excellent social and educational meeting. All NAMI services are free!!! We need your support to keep on setting the pace for work in mental health.
You can participate in the walk in several ways: as a walker on the DEKALB PACERS, as a donor to the team or an individual walker, as a walk volunteer, or as a team captain for a business, church, family, or organizational team under the Super Team of NAMI DeKalb. Get more information and register online by going to www.namiga.org. Click on Register to Walk at the top right. Click on join a team (DeKalb Pacers) or on Donate to a Walker (one of our Pacers). If you want to form your own team, please get in touch with me.
I encourage you to support NAMI DeKalb. Walk with us if you can. Donate if you cannot.
On August 11, at our monthly educational meeting, we will have an exciting kick off party for the walk. From 6:16-7:00, free pizza, salad and drinks will fuel our enthusiasm for the NAMI Walk. You'll get lots of information and encouragement along with a great dinner. You'll hear more about this meeting at the DeKalb Addiction Center, as time gets nearer. Save the date!
